BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University head baseball coach John McCormack was inducted on Monday as part of the latest class of the Palm Beach County Hall of Fame.
Â
McCormack was one of seven inductees honored as part of Monday's 43rd annual recognition banquet and gala, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. Also part of the ceremony was yearly awards given to amateur and high school athletes and coaches, contributors and more. The Palm Beach County Hall of Fame inducted its first class in 1977, and is permanently housed at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.
Â
"Last night's event was fantastic, I want to thank the Palm Beach County Sports Commission and the Hall of Fame Committee for such a great honor," said McCormack. "It was humbling to be in the presence of so many accomplished men and women, and it is something I will cherish forever. I know the honor was bestowed upon me, but it is a testament to all the people at Florida Atlantic that have helped move the baseball program in the right direction. Lastly, I want to thank all the coaches and players that have been a part of this great run, thank you for believing in me and believing in FAU."
Â
McCormack's Owls are 16-8 thus far this season, and he is just 24 wins away from another milestone, 400, in his 11th year as FAU head coach. The squad hosts Miami Wednesday and FIU this weekend, and for tickets, call 1-866-FAU-OWLS or visit baseball's ticket website.
