Westbrook Takes C-USA Swimmer of the Week Title

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University swimmer Fatimah Westbrook has been awarded Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league Wednesday. This is the first award of this kind for Westbrook.

Last Saturday, the FAU women's swimming and diving team hosted FIU for the annual dual meet against the two squads. Westbrook was the top swimmer in the meet with two individual first-place times and a second-place relay finish.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native dominated the 100-yard freestyle (52.44), touching the wall over two seconds before the second-place finisher. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Westbrook captured another first-place finish with a time of 1:05.19 and achieved a personal best in the 50-yard breaststroke (29.17) to help her 200-yard medley relay team secure a top finish. The Lynn transfer has consistently finished at the top of the leaderboard in various sprinting events during her inaugural season with the Owls.

FAU swimming and diving is preparing for their conference championships to be held at the end of the month. The men will be competing in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Swimming and Diving Championships from Feb. 20 to 23, while the women will be taking the stage at the C-USA Championships from Feb. 27 to March 3.
