BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University football team (8-3, 6-1 Conference USA) moved through the normal Tuesday paces of practice, knowing that this is a big week for the Owls' program as they prepare to play host to Southern Miss (7-4, 5-2 C-USA) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at FAU Stadium.
The two teams have only previously met once, in 2013 (FAU won 41-7), a year the oldest FAU players were just starting the high school recruiting process. That game was played under different head coaches and both teams were in fighting for wins, not championships. Fast forward to this Saturday, when the Owls will be fighting for the Conference USA East Division Crown and the opportunity to host the C-USA Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m.

Harrison Bryant on the John Mackey Finalist Announcement
"It is cool to achieve that so far, but winning these next two games would be a lot more fun - to go out with two conference championships. That is the best thing right now, to win these two games, win a conference championship and then a bowl."
Is it an emotional week because of senior day, on Saturday?
"I think it is an emotional week, due to that. I have really enjoyed it. It has gone by really fast though, in addition. This is a win or go home. If we win, we host the conference championship. At practice today, when we came out, you could feel the energy. It was totally different than the past few weeks – knowing that if we win this game, we are hosting a conference championship."
How did you think you looked at practice?
"It was a normal Tuesday. Everyone was flying around. We had some mistakes, execution-wise, but that is a normal Tuesday. People screw up on Tuesday, the fist install, but we will pin it down and get it right tomorrow."
Florida Atlantic University defeated UTSA, 40-26, in the Alamodome on Saturday, marking its 100th win in program history. The Owls (8-3, 6-1 Conference USA) cruised to 526 yards of offense, 182 of which coming from Harrison Bryant – a career high in receiving yards for the tight end. Running backs Malcolm Davidson, James Charles and BJ Emmons all found the end zone; Emmons, playing in his first game since the season opener, led the pack with two. The win moved FAU into sole possession of first place in C-USA's East Division. Cornerback Meiko Dotson corralled his sixth interception of the season – fourth most in FBS. Linebacker Rashad Smith contributed six tackles (two for a loss), a sack and a fumble recovery. The win was a defining moment for FAU, a program that has had many in its brief existence.
