Marshall, Catalano Sweep C-USA Swimmer and Diver of the Week Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Abby Marshall and Malvina Catalano of the Florida Atlantic University swimming & diving team have been recognized as the Conference USA Swimmer and Diver of the Week, as announced by the league Wednesday. This is the first honor of its kind for both juniors, as well as the first C-USA Athlete of the Week honor for the women's team this season.

Marshall, the C-USA Swimmer of the Week, was unbeatable in her races on Friday, as the Owls faced off against Indian River State, the reigning NJCAA National Champions. The Altamonte Springs, Florida native captured two individual first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke, with times of 56.47 and 2:03.03, respectively. Her two wins in the 200 medley relay (26.20 leadoff) and 400 freestyle relay (52.35 split) capped off a successful day for the veteran swimmer.

Catalano, the C-USA Diver of the Week, delivered successful dives against some reigning NJCAA Champion divers. The Rome, Italy native took away the individual title in the 1-meter by over 30 points with a score of 270.82. She would begin the meet with a second place showing in the 1-meter (217.50), with both dives marking season bests.

FAU men's and women's swimming & diving will be back at FAU Aquatic Center to face Princeton on Friday at 3:30 p.m. This will serve as FAU's Paradise Meet, where FAU cups will be passed out to the first fans in attendance.
