BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University's men's golf team finishes their final 2019-20 fall tournament, the Georgetown Intercollegiate, in fourth place among 12 teams.
The three-round tournament, hosted by Georgetown, was played at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland. Washington shot -17 under to capture the tournament with an 835 team score. The Owls were fourth shooting 873, 11 shots out of second place.
"It wasn't our best week in terms of overall play," said
Ryan Jamison. "We seemed to be a little bit more sloppy than weeks prior and didn't score our ball too well. I think we were able to get a decent sample size for evaluation going into the off-season and we will take areas of weakness and focus on improving them. Always tough to play three-consecutive weeks with school, golf and everything that goes into college athletics. But I certainly think we will be stronger as a team moving forward because of the experiences we have all faced this fall."
- Newcomer Enrique Dimayuga shot a 214 (72-71-71) one over par for a 6th place finish
- Rounding out the Owls, who finished in the tournament's top-25, was Max Sturdza at +8 (73-72-76=221)
- The duo of Alex Maguire, who paced the Owls last week, and Sully Zagerman, who led the Owls after round one, tied for 27th shooting 222. Maguire shot a 73-74-75 while Zagarman shot 70-74-78
- FAU's final participant was Patrick Poate, who finished +11 after he shot consistent a 76 in rounds one and two and shaved four shots off his third round (72), to tie for 37th
The Owls will return to Boca Raton, where they will concentrate on academics prior to the break, and will return to competitive tournament play Friday, Feb. 21 through Sunday, Feb. 23rd at the Desert Intercollegiate, played in Palm Desert, Calif.
