BOCA RATON, Fla. –
The Florida Atlantic University men's swimming and diving team has swept the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors, as announced by the league on Thursday. Junior Phillip Crouch was named Men's Swimmer of the Week and sophomore Logan Downey
was chosen as Men's Diver of the Week. This is the first honor of this kind for Crouch and the fourth for Downey this season.
FAU swimming and diving hosted nine schools at its annual FAU Fun Invite on Thursday, Dec. 20. Crouch and Downey were the top performers for the Owl men.
Crouch found his way to the proverbial medal stand at the FAU Fun Invite following a top finish in the 50-yard breaststroke. His finish of 27.12 in the stroke was enough for a CSCAA National Invitational B-cut time. The Leesburg, Virginia native also scored his 14th top-10 finish of the season in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.82).
Downey swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events for the third time this season. At the FAU Fun Invite, Downey claimed first in dominating fashion by winning the 1-meter by nearly 40 points with a score of 274.15 and the 3-meters by 20 with a score of 263.9. The Plantation, Florida native has finished either first or second in the 3-meters at each meet this season.
FAU swimming and diving will host NJIT and NYU this Saturday at 11 a.m. for Senior Day at FAU Aquatic Center. The Owls will be honoring the seven graduating seniors at the beginning of the meet and admission is free to all fans.
