BOCA RATON, Fla. – After a fast start to the spring in Tallahassee, the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team will continue to be road warriors, with two matches in Orlando Saturday and a more local contest, in Coral Gables, Monday morning.

The Owls (2-1) finished as runners-up at the FSU Spring Invitational to begin the spring slate. Two newcomers,
Alvaro Fernandez Horta and
Mehdi Laalej (voted Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Week), went 2-0 in singles on the weekend, while another,
Kirac Bekisoglu, picked up his first ever dual match singles victory in the No. 1 slot. In doubles, Owl combos tallied five wins, including a 2-0 showing for Bekisoglu and
Gabriel Sidney.
Owl Preview
First, on Saturday, the team heads to Orlando to take part in the USTA National Campus Collegiate Series. There, the Owls will compete in two dual matches, taking on UNCW first, at 11 a.m., before squaring off against BYU at 3 p.m. Both matches will stream live on the USTA site and have live stats as well.
Monday marks the first simply one-on-one dual match of the spring for FAU, outside of a showcase or tournament setting, against Miami. The 11 a.m. matchup at Neil Schiff Tennis Center will be featured on ACC Network Extra, available online to authenticated users through ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

The Owls will travel to another showcase, as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Jan. 26-27. Sixty teams are schedule to compete at 15 sites across the nation, with FAU going to Gainesville. They will first take on Louisville on that Saturday, and then face off against either host Florida, or William & Mary, on Sunday.
