Porter’s Late Goal Pushes Women’s Soccer to 3-0 in C-USA

BOCA RATON, Fla. – A game-winning goal in the 85th minute by Miracle Porter gave the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team a 1-0 win Friday over Louisiana Tech, and made the Owls 3-0 to start a conference schedule for only the second time in program history.
Turning Point / The Finish:
After only a few close opportunities, notably a sliding chance by Porter in the 52nd minute, and a rifle off the crossbar by Mary O'Hara (and a high rebound attempt by Elisha Holmes) in the 69th, the lone goal was created by two precise passes as the clock ticked down. FAU (6-6-0, 3-0-0 C-USA) had it deep in their own end, and Alex Maxson had a nice long ball to get it ahead to Tiril Haga. Haga then had a crisp touch to the streaking Porter, who was successful on a 1-on-1 chance against the LA Tech (9-4-0, 2-2-0) goalkeeper.
Notables:
"In an earlier game, against Mississippi State, it was 0-0 at halftime, and so I was just telling our girls, we've got to be patient, we're gonna get a look, we're gonna get a chance," said Head Coach Patrick Baker. "It was a great little touch in by 'T' (Tiril Haga), and Miracle (Porter) 1-v-1 against the goalkeeper, we like our chances there, and she calmly finished it."

Notables:
- Porter notched her first goal of 2018. For Maxson, it was her first assist, and Haga's second
- The Owls outshot the Lady Techsters 10-8, with Ebba Blomqvist's three pacing the squad
- Seven of the 11 FAU starters played the whole 90: Goalkeeper Jennifer Ocampo, the defensive line quartet of Blomqvist, Maxson, Hailey Landrus and Carolynn Wotring, and midfielders O'Hara and Jessica Monteiro
- The only other time FAU started 3-0-0 in a conference was in 2005, as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Their next match that year was a tie against Jacksonville, and then the Owls would wrap the conference slate with six straight wins for a 9-0-1 ASUN mark
