ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's cross country team competed in the UCF Alumni Invitational on Saturday morning and earned a third place finish as a team.
Teams competing in the meet were FIU, UCF, Miami and Keiser.

"After a three-year absence, we were very happy to race at the UCF cross country course again this morning. On a hot and humid morning, we had some good performances. Kelsey (Meltzer) set a new PR and everyone looks poised to race well in Gainesville next week."
QUICK HITS
- The Owls finished the meet in third place, three points behind second-place UCF. FAU had four runners in the top-20.
- Junior Mikaela Jonsson had the top time for FAU, finishing fifth in 18:50. She was fourth among runners attached to a school. This is the second meet this season that Jonsson was the top finisher for the Owls after claiming fourth in the FAU Invite to start the season.
- Senior Bethany Hardcastle was the next Owl to cross the finish line, clocking 19:50 for a 15th place finish.
- Senior Kelsey Meltzer broke her 5K personal best time with a 20:06 finish for 17th place, up nearly five seconds from her last showing.
- Freshman Morgan Sharp completed the race in 20:33 for a 20th place finish.
- Rounding out the finishers for the Owls were: Brooke Butterfield (20:40; 21st), Christina Humphries (20:46; 23rd), Nicole Megrath (20:50; 26th), Morgan Graff (21:23; 30th), Lauren Macon (21:24; 31st), Johanna Freeman (21:39; 33rd) and Natalie Ippolito (21:56; 35th).

The men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Gainesville to participate in the Mountain Dew Invite hosted by University of Florida on September 22.
