Alvaro Fernandez Horta to Join FAU Men's Tennis

Alvaro Fernadez Horta has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at Florida Atlantic University, announced Ricardo Gonzalez, FAU's head men's tennis coach.
"I'm very happy to be a new member of FAU men's tennis team," said Fernandez Horta. "This will be one of the best experiences of my life and of course I´ll do my best to get the maximum possible titles for the team. Let´s go owls!"

The incoming freshman hails from Spain and will join the Owls with a No. 6 overall ranking in the Spain Junior National Rankings and is ranked No. 81 in Spain's Men's Open National Rankings. He is a two-time Team Championship Finalist for Stadium Casablanca (2017 and 2018).

"I am extremely excited to welcome Alvaro into our family," said Gonzalez. "Not only was I impressed with his tennis game, but more importantly his character. He has great family values, which is the most important for me. I am looking forward to helping Alvaro develop his game and I am excited to see what he will bring to the court."

Horta holds a 13.44 Universal Tennis Ranking, a system which rates each player in the world from 0-16.5.
