BOCA RATON, Fla. -The Florida Atlantic University softball team wrapped up its home schedule with a 6-1 win over WKU on Sunday. The win completed a series sweep of the Hilltoppers. FAU is now 26-23 overall and 13-7 in Conference USA competition.

Key Plays

In the bottom of the third inning, Alex Miller singled, then came around to score on an Emily Lochten double. After a Madisyn Palmer infield base hit, Samantha Lageyre drove in Lochten with a single to right. Later in the inning, Palmer scored on a Hilltopper wild pitch to give the Owls a 3-0 lead. Jordan Thomas led off the fourth inning with a homerun to put WKU (26-23, 9-12) on the board. Lochten doubled for a second time to lead off the bottom of the fifth, followed by Palmer drawing a walk. Both runners moved up on a Lageyre sac bunt before Tatum Buckley singled off the WKU pitcher to plate Lochten and extend the lead to 4-1. A second Hilltopper wild pitch scored Palmer and Lauren Whitt singled to left, allowing Buckley to score and accounting for the final run of the game.
