BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving team racked up several top finishes Friday at FAU Aquatic Center following a 45-minute weather delay. Distance events continue to be a strength for the Owls this season with top finishes in the 500- and 1650-yard freestyle events.

"Although they are tired from the hard work they have put in the pool in the past month, our swimmers and divers are executing their races & dives well," said head coach Lara Preacco. "They are far stronger athletes than they were at this same time last year. These are exciting times for us and for FAU."

The Owls won't have much rest, as the team will be making their way south to Coral Gables, Florida, to face the Miami University Hurricanes and Boston College Eagles tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at the Whitten University Center Swimming Pool. While the FAU women's score will count, the men's will not. The Owls will be back at FAU Aquatic Center for the Alumni & Family Meet on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m.

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving team racked up several top finishes Friday at FAU Aquatic Center following a 45-minute weather delay. Distance events continue to be a strength for the Owls this season with top finishes in the 500- and 1650-yard freestyle events.
Notables:
Women
- There was nothing stopping Natalie Clausen in the 1650-yard freestyle, as she came up with a first-place finish with a time of 17:22.37. Caitlin Dunne followed in third (17:40.80).
- Fatimah Westbrook snatched another first-place title in her first year suiting up for the Owls in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.94). She also tallied a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (53.34).
- Spence Atkins came up with a silver finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.40. She later captures another first-place title in a distance event this season, with a 5:00.25 finish.
- Fatimah Westbrook, Abby Marshall, Sarah Martin and Kelsey Witkay capped things off for the Owl women with third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
- On the board, Kaleigh Dundov scored 234.40 to record a fourth-place finish in the 1-meter event. Keegan Fluharty captured fourth in the 3-meter dive (255.10).
Men
- Will Smith started things off for the men's individual events with a second-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. Later on, Smith captured another second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:40.69).
- Braedan Leach tallied a third-place finish with a time of 1:52.32. Leach also finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (52.30).
- Several Owl men captured fourth-place finishes: Michael Rahrig in the 200 fly (1:53.91), Josh Fountain in the 1650 free (16:13.04) and Sean Arrington in the 100 fly (51.68).
- On the board, Logan Downey added another first-place finish to his resume with a score of 322.60 in the 3-meter dive. Downey also placed second in the 1-meter dive (326.85) with Wiley Schmidt following him in fourth (289.70).Â
