Cross Country Completes C-USA Championship Race

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Conference USA Championship on Saturday at South County Regional Park. The women's team claimed ninth place while the men came in 10th.

QUICK HITS – WOMEN (5K)
- The women's ninth place finish was up one spot from a season ago. The Owls finished only eight points back from eight place. Four runners set new personal records in the meet.
- Erica Lersch was the top Owl finisher for the women. She finished in 29th place, serving up a personal best time of 18:27.85. That bested her previous personal record by 38 seconds.
- Mikaela Jonsson was the next FAU runner to cross the finish line. She was 34th with a time of 18:33.73.
- Next up for the Owls was Bethany Hardcastle who clocked in at 19:08.44 for a 56th place finish. Sophia Clark finished two spots below Hardcastle, crossing the line in 19:12.59 for a 58th place finish. Clark's time was a new personal record.
- Lauren Macon raced to a 68th place finish in 19:37.22, a new personal record topping her previous time by 22 seconds. Kelsey Meltzer finished close behind in 70th place in 19:46.49, also a new personal record. That time beat her old personal best by 20 seconds
- Prisca Konig and Brooke Butterfield crossed the line one after the other. Konig was 75th with a time of 19:56.35 and Butterfield was 76th with a time of 19:57.13.
- Nicole Megrath finished the race in 20:16.70 for an 83rd place finish.
QUICK HITS – MEN (8K)
- Jonathan Werble was the top Owl runner in the race, finishing 41st with a time of 26:35.47, a new personal record for the senior.
- John Marting was the next FAU runner to cross the finish line. He finished in 27:30.34 for a 58th place finish.
- Sean Barone clocked in at 27:57.43 for a 62nd place finish. Cristian Moreno completed the race just six spots below Barone in 68th place in 28:09.50.
- Jericho Cooley finished in 28:23.13 for a 71st place finish for a new personal best time.
- Nolan Meuret clocked in at 29:15.14 for a 75th place finish.
- Ross Rabalais was able to pass a runner from Marshall right before crossing the finish line to earn 83rd place in 30:30.54.
