Cross Country Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams closed out the season at the NCAA South Regional on Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. The men raced to a 23rd place finish, while the women placed 27th overall.

QUICK HITS – WOMEN (6K) Â
"Today wasn't our best day. We always talk about the fact that we either win or we learn. Today we learned. The experience and the opportunity to race at the NCAA level will help us continue to work to reach our goals."

QUICK HITS – WOMEN (6K) Â
- There were 207 total runners on the women's side
- Mikaela Jonsson was the top FAU runner with a personal-best time of 23:29.9 for a 137th place finish
- Bethany Hardcastle was the next Owl to cross the finish line, doing so in 23:57.1 for a 157th place showing
- Erica Lersch completed the course in 24:06.5, finishing 162nd
- Prisca Konig raced to a 173rd place finish, clocking in at 24:22.2
- Sophia Clark finished just 30 seconds behind Konig at 24:52.5 for a 186th place finish
- Lauren Macon finished in 25:12.0 in 192nd place and Kelsey Meltzer rounded out the group with a 198th place finish in 25:42.4Â
- The men's race featured 157 total runners
- Jonathan Werble was the top FAU finisher for the second straight race. Werble completed the course in 35:15.4 for a 124th place finish
- Lachlan Shiver followed seven spots behind in 131st place with a time of 35:39.8
- John Marting raced to a new personal-best time of 35:47.0 for a 133rd place showing
- Jericho Cooley crossed the finish line in 37:29.8 for a 153rd place finish and Sean Barone rounded out the FAU runners with a time of 38:31.4 for a 156th place finishÂ
