FAU Swim & Dive Earn 12 First Place Finishes at IRSC

FINAL RESULTS
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving team competed in Fort Pierce, Fla. Friday to face the Indian River State College Pioneers. On the women's side, the Owl women walked away with a win (181-119), while the men fell short with a score of 113 to IRSC's 186. The Owls finished the day with 12 swimmers and divers at the top of the podium, 19 who came up with second-place finishes and 17 earning third place honors.

The next matchup for the Owls will be at home at the FAU Aquatics Center on Friday, Nov. 2 at 3:30 p.m. The women will square off against Florida Gulf Coast University and the men will face Princeton and Boston College. Admission is free to all fans.

Women
- The 400-yard medley relay kicked off the meet with Abby Marshall, Fatimah Westbrook, Danica Garbett and Sarah Martin landing in second place (3:56.82).
- Spence Atkins claimed first place in the 1000-yard freestyle for the second time of the season (10:16.25). Madison Rizzo came up with another top finish in the stroke coming in third place (10:39.31).
- The 200-yard freestyle was all of Sharon Kok's to win, coming in at 1:55.53.
- Abby Marshall's 58.70 finish in the 100-yard backstroke landed her another first-place feat in the race with Miranda Fellowes following behind her in second (59.75).
- Fatimah Westbrook completed the day with two first-place finishes. She came up on top in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.66 and the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.35.
- Danica Garbett ended the day with two first-place and one second-place honors. Garbett finished the 100-yard butterfly (57.93) and the 200-yard IM (2:08.05) on top with first-place finishes. In the 200-yard butterfly, she finished in second with a time of 2:05.63 with Ashlyn Hunt following her in third in the same race (2:14.40).
- Spence Atkins led the women's 500-yard freestyle with a 5:02.79 finish and landed in second-place in the 100-yard freestyle (53.99).
- Miranda Fellowes and Kara Wilkins came in second and third in the 200-yard backstroke with times of 2:09.82 and 2:13.45, respectively.
- Tori Ellwood (2:26.52) and Haley O'Meara (2:27.14) came in second and third in the 200-yard breaststroke.
- Natalie Clausen followed Spence Atkins in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:05.11 finish.
- The day concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay, in which Abby Marshall, Sarah Martin, Melanie Doan and Fatimah Westbrook finished in second (138.31).
- On the platform, Kaleigh Dundov and Keegan Fluharty scored their first collegiate wins. In the 1-meter event, Kaleigh Dundov (233.69) and Keegan Fluharty (205.72) came in first and third, respectively. In the 3-meters, Keegan Fluharty's score of 268.42 landed her at the top, while Kaleigh Dundov followed in second (215.40).
- Will Smith started the individual races for the men with a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:34.14) with Josh Fountain following him for third (9:39.24). In the 500-freestyle, the two finished two and three again with Fountain coming in at 4:39.50 and Smith finishing just behind him (4:40.61).
- Colin Kozak raced his way to second place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.56).
- Alex Taber came up with three second-place finishes on the day in the 100-yard backstroke (52.22), 200-yard backstroke (1:54.19) and 200-yard IM (1:57.42).
- Phillip Crouch III topped third in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.77) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:13.07).
- In the 200-yard butterfly, Michael Rahrig and Skyler Hamilton came in second and third with times of 1:55.89 and 1:56.96, respectively.
- Connor Smoak led his way to third place in the 50-yard freestyle (21.62).
- Braedan Leach finished in first in the 200-yard backstroke (1:53.56).
- Will Smith raced his way to a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (9:34.14)Â with Josh Fountain (9:39.24)Â following him in third.Â
- Skyler Hamilton finished second in the 100-yard butterfly, coming in with a time of 52.32 and also came in third in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.96).
- The day finished with Colin Kozak, Connor Smoak, Jack Neeley and Joaquin Garcia earning third in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.25).
- Logan Downey swept in both diving events, finishing with a score of 316.65 in the 1-meter and 269.77 in the 3 meters. Wiley Schmidt finished third in the 1-meter dive (229.12).
