Owls Earn Third, Fifth Place at South Florida Invite

TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the South Florida Invitational hosted by USF on Friday to conclude the regular season. The men's team had a third place showing, while the women claimed fifth place.

With the regular season concluded, the Owls will be preparing for the postseason. FAU will be hosting the Conference USA Championship on October 27 at South County Regional Park.

QUICK HITS – WOMEN (5K)
- The women's team earned fifth place out of 10 total teams in the race. There were 91 Division I runners competing.
- Mikaela Jonsson led the Owls again with a 12th place finish. She finished in 19:16.44.
- For the second consecutive race, Sophia Clark was the second Owl to cross the finish line. She ended the race in 19:30.63 for a 14th place finish.
- Bethany Hardcastle and Lauren Macon each finished in the top 35. Hardcastle raced to a 26th place finish in 19:46.77. Macon clocked in at 20:08.83 for a 33rd place finish.
- Kelsey Meltzer ended the race in 20:22.52 for a 39th place finish.
QUICK HITS – MEN (8K)
- The men's team earned third place out of nine teams. The race featured 58 Division I runners.
- Lachlan Shiver raced to an 11th place finish in 27:55.09. Shiver has led the Owls in every race this season.
- Jonathan Werble was the second Owl to cross the finish line. He ended the race in 28:12.30 for a 13th place finish.
- Sean Barone clocked in at 28:40.09 for a 19th place finish.
- John Marting and Cristian Moreno finished in the top 30 for the Owls. Marting raced to a 23rd place finish in 28:52.24. Moreno crossed the finish line in 29:07.11 for a 27th place finish.
