Cross Country Set to Host Conference USA Championship Saturday

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams will be hosting the Conference USA Cross Country Championship on Saturday at South County Regional Park. The women's race will start at 8:30 a.m., while the men will begin at 9:15 a.m.
Both teams will look to make some noise in the Championship after completing successful regular seasons. The women's team has claimed first place in three of the six events they ran in this season. On the men's side, the Owls have had top-10 finishes in every race this season, including three top-five finishes.
Mikaela Jonsson has been the top runner for the women this season, being the first Owl to cross the finish line in all six races. She earned her first collegiate win at the Great American Cross Country Festival in North Carolina, topping 97 total runners with an 18:49 time. Eleven total FAU runners set new personal records this season.
Lachlan Shiver has the led the men's team this season. He opened the 2018 slate with an individual win at the FAU Cross Country Invitational with the best 5K time in school history. Sean Barone recorded the fifth best 5K time in that same race.
Charlotte, FIU, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Rice, UTEP, UTSA and WKU will competing in both the men's and women's events, while Southern Miss and UAB will compete only in the women's race.
