BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University has named Spence Atkins (swimming and diving) and Ronald Delph (men's basketball) student-athletes of the week for the week of Jan. 16.
Atkins continued her impressive season with three first-place finishes in FAU's meet on Jan. 13. She clinched first in the 200 yard freestyle (1:52.56), 200 yard butterfly (2:01.26) and the 500 yard freestyle (4:59.13).
Delph averaged a double-double in last week's games, helping the Owls to back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly a year. Delph posted 12 points and 17 rebounds on Thursday at UTEP pushing him over 500 career rebounds. He is only the seventh player in school history to do so.
The men's basketball team will host a pair of conference games this week at FAU Arena. On Thursday, FAU will take on Charlotte at 7 p.m. and then on Sunday the Owls will face Old Dominion at 2 p.m.
Swimming and diving will have a weekend off before traveling to Florida State for a meet on Jan. 27. at 11 a.m.
