Sandy Owls Head to CCSA Tournament as No. 6 Seed

BOCA RATON, Fla. - On the strength of the best regular season in program history, the Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team will head to the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) tournament as the No. 6 seed. The tournament will be held at the Lakepoint Sporting Community in Emerson, Georgia, starting on Friday, April 21. The Owls finished the regular season with an 18-9 overall record, won 17 matches in a row at one point in the season, and earned an all-time high national ranking of No. 14.
One of the Owls' pairs also earned national recognition, as Nicole Navarro and Nicole Grant were named DiG Magazine National Pair of the Week after defeating three ranked opponents at the FIU Surf and Turf Invitational earlier this month.
The first portion of the tournament splits the 10 CCSA teams into two groups for round-robin pool play, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the single elimination semifinals and finals. Second-seeded LSU, No. 3 Georgia State, No. 7 College of Charleston and No. 10 UAB compose the rest of Pool B. Pool A includes top seed Florida State, No. 4 South Carolina, fifth-seeded FIU, No. 8 Tulane and No. 9 UNC-Wilmington.
FAU will face LSU at noon and Georgia State at 3 p.m. on Friday. The Owls play UAB at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and wrap up pool play later that day against College of Charleston at 1:30 p.m. The semifinals begin at 9 a.m. Sunday morning, with the championship match starting at 1 p.m. that same day. Sunday's championship match will be streamed live on theccsa.com.
