Christina Martinez went 2-for-3 on Friday. - GAINESVILLE, Fla. - A solo home run was the difference as the No. 22 Florida Atlantic University softball team lost to UCF 1-0 at the NCAA Regional on Friday. FAU fell to 50-8 on the year with the loss.
Notables
• Kylee Hanson gave up six hits and struck out 10 in the loss. It was Hanson's first loss since March 10 against Robert Morris.
• The loss also snapped FAU's school record 21 game winning streak. The Owls hadn't lost since April 3 versus Louisiana Tech.
• Christina Martinez had both hits for FAU.
Key Plays
As expected, the game was a pitchers' duel between Hanson and UCF's Paige Turnier. The only run of the game came in the top of the fifth when Jasmine Acevedo lifted a ball over the left field fence. The Owls' best chance to score came in the third inning, when they had a runner on second with just one out, but a grounder and flyout ended the inning.
