Gibson Earns American Honorable Mention

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic softball junior outfielder Ciara Gibson was selected for an American Conference award for the second straight week, this time earning an Honorable Mention selection, announced by the league office on Monday.
After winning American Player of the Week, Gibson continued her tear at the plate, finishing the weekend series against North Texas with a .500 batting average, and tallying five hits, including two doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI.
Gibson launched home runs in each of the final two games of the series, in addition to contributing two doubles in one inning in the series finale's 17-7 win. The 17 runs, four of them driven in by Gibson, are the most in a single game by an American team during league play this season.
In the past nine games, Gibson has tallied 14 hits in 25 at-bats, with 11 runs, six homers and 14 RBI. She has driven in at least one run in each of those nine appearances.

The Owls remain on the road for a three-game series in Tampa against South Florida on Friday through Sunday, April 10-12.
