DENTON, Texas – The Florida Atlantic softball team fell to North Texas twice on Thursday, first in a 10-inning thriller by a score of 5-4 before being run-ruled in a 13-4 defeat.

In the opening game, the Owls (25-13, 7-7) were downed in extra innings by the Mean Green (22-16, 11-3) who then earned the series win after just five innings in the second outing.

GAME ONE
The Owls got on board in the top of the first with junior Ciara Gibson driving in leadoff hitter Bella Foran on an RBI single. In the top of the second, senior catcher Chloe Yeatts launched a two-run home run to build a 3-0 lead.

North Texas crawled its way back on consecutive solo home runs in the bottom of the third. Gibson's second RBI, a sacrifice fly, put the Owls back up by two, but the Mean Green countered with a two-run fifth inning to tie the game at four apiece.

The tie carried over into extra innings, where Florida Atlantic made multiple highlight defensive plays to stay alive. The Mean Green ultimately ended the scoring drought in the bottom of the 10th inning with a double followed up by a walk-off RBI single.

GAME TWO
FAU struck first once again in the opening frame with Yeatts delivering a two-run single but North Texas countered with a run in the bottom of the same frame.

The Mean Green scored off an error and launched a three-run homer to go up 4-2 in the bottom of the second and piled on six runs in the third. Gibson's fifth home run of the season narrowly closed the gap, but North Texas secured the run-rule victory after five innings.

NOTES/NOTABLE

Yeatts finished the day with four RBI. She is now up to six home runs on the season.
All five of Gibson's homers this year have come in her last nine games.
Foran has scored a run in six consecutive games.
Senior third baseman Jesiana Mora recorded three hits on the day.

The series will conclude on Friday with the first pitch moved up to 1 p.m. ET and airing on ESPN+.
