BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Florida Atlantic football will play host to Old Dominion this weekend in Conference USA action. FAU is coming off a 35-31 victory over UTEP and is riding into the game with a two-game winning streak.
Quarterback Jason Driskel was 20-for-25 for 233 yards and a score against UTEP. The redshirt sophomore added another 79 yards in the Owls' ground attack. FAU set a new all-time program high with 22 single-season rushing TDs behind the efforts of freshman Devin Singletary, who had 145 yards on 20 carries. Captains Azeez Al-Shaair and Trey Hendrickson led the FAU's defensive efforts. Al-Shaair, a sophomore linebacker, had 11 tackles while senior defensive end Hendrickson had five tackles, including 2.5 tackles for a loss of 15 yards. Hendrickson will be one of 16 players to be honored in this week's pregame senior day activities.
ODU, which fell to the hands of FAU 33-31 in the closing seconds a year ago, enters the contest with a 7-3 record. The all-time series between the two teams stands at 1-1.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. FAU's flagship radio station ESPN West Palm 106.3 will carry the game, and ESPN's Ken LaVicka will have the call alongside FAU football alumni and analysist Kris Bartels. Fans also may follow the game via the ESPN App or through video stream at FAUSports.TV.
Prior to this week's game, you can catch up with three teams on Wednesday, Nov. 16 by listening to Florida Atlantic Sports Talk (FAST) on ESPN West Palm 106.3 from 6 to 7 p.m. Host Ken LaVicka will be joined by FAU Head Football Coach Charlie Partridge, FAU Head Women's Tennis Coach Marcy Cava and FAU Head Volleyball Coach Fernanda Nelson, who will lead the team into the 2016 Conference USA Championship Friday in Houston.
This Thursday, you can catch Inside the Owls' Burrow, which will air at 8 p.m. on Fox Sports Sun. It will re-air at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Fox Sports Florida. This week's show will feature offensive linemen Antonyo Woods and Roman Fernandez, who each aspire to attend med school, senior offensive lineman Kelly Parfitt and senior defensive lineman Shalom Ogbonda's breakdown of the mannequin challenge following the Rice victory.
