BOCA RATON, Fla. - Laura Mann's three-run homerun was the big hit in the Florida Atlantic University softball team's 5-0 win over Middle Tennessee on Sunday. The victory completed a three-game sweep of the Blue Raiders.

Back-to-back doubles by Christina Martinez and Carnesha Thompson gave FAU (24-7-1, 5-1 C-USA) a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. After a fielder's choice and a Melissa Martinez walk, Mann sent a blast over the right field fence to take a 4-0 lead. The Owls added another run in the sixth when Alex Miller scored on a Delaney Rickey base hit.

Thompson went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Owls. Amanda Wilson threw five innings in the circle for her sixth win of the season. Tatum Buckley came on in relief and pitched two perfect innings.

"We swept the series which is always the goal," said FAU head softball coach Joan Joyce. "Laura's homerun was big and our pitchers did a great job all weekend, giving up just one unearned run."
