BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University softball team lost to in-state rival UCF by a close 2-0 score on Thursday.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when the Knights (31-5) registered a run on a RBI single to right field. UCF added to its lead in the sixth when Samantha McCloskey scored on an infield single.

"We hit the ball hard all game, it just seems like it was always right at them," said FAU softball coach Joan Joyce.

FAU (24-8-1) had its best chance to score in the bottom of the sixth when a Delaney Rickey single, a UCF throwing error and a walk loaded the bases with two outs, but a nice defensive play by the Knights' third baseman ended the inning.

Kylee Hanson threw a complete game seven hitter in the circle for the Owls. Laura Mann and Christina Martinez also had hits for FAU.
