Florida Atlantic Women's Swimming and Diving put in a strong showing at the Dual-A-Palooza hosted by FIU. Despite dropping dual meets to defending Conference USA Championships FIU, Rice and ACC power Miami, the Owls came home with plenty of quality swims.
On Friday night, the women's 400 Medley Relay of Rachel Crino, Paulina Boeger, Agnes Bucz and Katie Dodge finished second in a time of 3:51.82 to give the Owls a strong start to the meet. Agi Bucz and Abbey King both picked up two 2nd place finishes to lead the way. Bucz was strong in the 50 (24.42) and the 100 Free (52.65) while King did her work in the 500 and 1000 Free.
Hannah Roper added a 2ndplace in the 200 Breast touching the wall in 2:24.12, while Rachel Crino (50 Back) and Boeger (200 IM) also picked up 2nd place finishes. Other highlights on Friday evening included Kyleigh Firman swimming a personal best in a 3rd place finish in the 100 Fly (58.21) and Bailey Grabenhorst doing the same in the 200 Breast (2:28.79)
On Saturday morning against FIU Laura Conoscenti swam a career best of 2:06.62 in the 200 Fly on her way to the Owls first win of the day. Crino in the 200 Back, Bucz in the 50 Fly, and Boeger picked up 2nd places finishes against the Panthers.
In the afternoon tilt against Rice the 100 Medley Relay of Crino, Boeger, Firman and Bucz picked up the Owls first relay win in a time of 50.23. Once again Rachel Crino was strong in a Backstroke event, this time picking up a 2ndplace in the 100 Back. The meet ended with the 400 Free Relay of Dodge, Firman, Lexi Delisle and Lydia Musleh finishing 2nd in a time of 3:39.05.
Head Coach Lara Preacco was pleased with the team effort and noted, "The last two days were quite a challenge for the ladies, we worked hard all week at practice and I'm very happy with where we're at." Coach Preacco touched on some individual swims as well, "there were some tremendous swims both yesterday and today, especially from Laura, Kyleigh and Bailey, and we hope to see more of this moving forward."
The Owls are off until Saturday, Oct. 31st when both the Men and the Women will welcome Ivy League power Princeton. The meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
