Florida Atlantic University volleyball's Katarina Stepanovic and football's Greg Joseph have been named student-athletes of the week.
In Wednesday's win over FIU, Stepanovic had seven kills, two service aces, five digs and a block assist. Stepanovic was named to the FGCU Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites Classic all-tournament team after leading FAU to a 2-1 record on the weekend. The junior did not record an attack error against UMKC as she tallied 11 kills on 17 swings. Stepanovic registered a season-high 14 kills in the win over host FGCU and added 11 total blocks on the weekend, including six against the Eagles. For the week, Stepanovic hit .461 with six service aces, 11 digs and 12 total blocks.
Last weekend against Wyoming, Joseph was 4-for-4 in field goals, providing 13 of the team's 19 points. In the first quarter he hit a 32-yarder to pull the Owls within four. In the second quarter it was a 30-yarder to keep the Owls within four at 10-6. The third quarter saw him make good on the PAT that gave the Owls a 13-10 margin and then hit a career best 43-yard field goal to go up 16-10. With FAU down 17-16 he connected on a 33-yard field goal to put FAU up 19-17 with 8:14 remaining.
Volleyball will travel to San Antonio, Texas to face UTSA on Friday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. Football will host its second home game of the season this Saturday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. against UTSA.
