Florida Atlantic University's track and field team has released its 2015 schedule. FAU will be competing in both indoor and outdoor meets with a strong showing in Florida.
"We are happy that we were able to come up with a challenging schedule that will help us prepare as best as possible for the indoor and outdoor conference championships," said Alex Smolka, head coach. "We made great progress last season in our first year in Conference USA, and we look forward to continuing to improve and integrating the new additions into our culture of constantly striving to become champions."
The indoor season will begin on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at the UNC Joe Hilton Indoor Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The team then will compete in its first in-state meet at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Gainesville on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015.
The season will continue with two meets in February. The Owls will travel north to Akron, Ohio to compete in the two-day Akron Invitational on Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 and then head to Birmingham, Ala. for the SU Samford Indoor Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015. FAU will return to Birmingham for the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 25 and Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015.
The outdoor season will kick off at the annual UM Invitational in Miami on Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015. The Owls will remain in-state for the majority of March and April, participating in the UCF Invitational, UF Florida Relays, UM Alumni Invitational, and the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational. The team then will head to Philadelphia, Penn. for the two-day Penn Relays beginning on Thursday, April 23, 2015. The regular season will conclude in Orlando at the UCF Twilight Invitational on Thursday, April 30, 2015.
C-USA Outdoor Championships will take place in El Paso, Texas from Thursday, May 14 through Sunday, May 17, 2015. The first round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Jacksonville begins on Thursday, May 28, 2015 and ends on Saturday, May 30, 2015. The top 48 in each event compete, and the top 12 qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championship Finals two weeks later in Eugene, Ore.
