Former Owl Morris Invited to Senior Bowl

BOCA RATON - Former Florida Atlantic running back Alfred Morris has added another off-season accolade to his resumé, as he will now participate in the prestigious Under Armour Senior Bowl this Saturday in Mobile, AL.
Morris, FAU's all-time leading rusher, has taken the place of an injured fullback, Chad Diehl of Clemson University, on the South roster. Though Morris was the Owls'tailback during most of his time in Boca Raton, he started his career at the fullback position. After moving full-time to tailback, the 5-11, 222-pound Pensacola native put together statistics that allowed him to finished atop the FAU all-time lists in rushing yards (3,529), rushing touchdowns (27), total touchdowns (31) and all-purpose yards (3,843). Those numbers not only earned him this late addition to the Senior Bowl, but also a spot in last week's East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, FL, where he led the East running backs with 31 yards on nine carries.
This Saturday's Senior Bowl, to be shown on the NFL Network, has the most NFL involvement of any postseason all-star exhibition. Besides the official page (www.seniorbowl.com), the all-star game is featured on the NFL's official website at www.nfl.com/seniorbowl. In addition, coaching staffs from two NFL teams lead each squad. This season, the Minnesota Vikings, under head coach Leslie Frazier, are in charge of the North, and Morris and his South teammates will be led by the Washington Redskins and head coach Mike Shanahan.
Following this weekend, Morris will continue his preparation for a possible career at the next level when he participates in the NFL's annual scouting combine, beginning Wednesday, February 22 and continuing through Tuesday, February 28 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.
