Seat selection for the on-campus football stadium is under way. Howard Guggenheim, the program's first Founder, made his selection and was joined by Howard Schnellenberger, FAU's head football coach and Scott Erdmann, FAU's assistant athletics director/premium seat ticket sales. A Football Founder is an individual who donated $50,000 or more to the football program prior to FAU fielding a team in 2001.
"Howard was the first Founder. He is a leader," said Howard Schnellenberger, FAU's head coach. "He has been with us since before we took the field and it is only fitting that he is the first person to pick a seat in the on-campus stadium."
FAU's stadium, located in the north central area of campus, is a $70 million project. It is slated to feature 6,000 premium seats, including 24 suites, 26 loge boxes, 1,000 premier club seats and 4,000 priority club seats, and the latest, state-of-the art amenities. The 2011 football season will host five home games to be played for the first time on FAU's Boca Raton campus. The home season opener is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 15.
