Track Runs Well in First Day of Penn Relays

BOCA RATON, FL- The Florida Atlantic track team had a successful first day in Philadelphia, PA at the Penn Relays. The 116th annual event began Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. and will go through Saturday evening ending with the men's 4x400 relay. Despite overcast weather conditions all events began on time.
Two Owls competed in the first event of the day, the women's 400m hurdles. Freshmen, Danielle Aromashodu and Lauren Walton both competed in the event and both created new personal best times. Walton ran the one lap run in 1:03.48, and Aromashodu ran the race in 59.15. Aromashodu's time not only was a personal best but also broke the FAU school record in the 400 hurdles which was previously 59.39. She also finished fifth in the event out of 51 participants.
Also running for the Owls, Rebecca Hallam will race later tonight in the women's 10,000 meter run at 10:15 p.m., and Friday FAU will continue competing in the women's sprint medley relay at 6:20 p.m.
