Bowling Green, KY - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at Western Kentucky University on Sunday afternoon in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Owls are now 5-7-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in Sun Belt Conference action, while the Hilltoppers improved to 8-5-1 and 3-2-1 in league play. FAU returns home to battle the University of Denver on Friday, October 14, starting at 7 p.m.
WKU grabbed a first-half advantage in the 22nd minute on Courtney Rymer's first goal of the season. An insurance goal was added midway through the second half when Ali Stahlke found the back of the net after an initial shot was stopped by FAU junior goalkeeper Ashley Lantes. The hosts capped the scoring on a goal by Mallory Outerbridge in the 79th minute.
Junior forward Allison Griffin, sophomore forward Jesse Shugg, junior defender Breanna Lewis each recorded a shot on goal. Sophomore midfielder Marisa Russo rounded out the Owls' offensive output with one shot.
