BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team got in about 35 minutes of work before being pull due to lightening. The team was scheduled to return at 7 p.m., but class schedules prohibited a full practice and it was called.
The day was not all gloom. Alfred Morris, FAU's redshirt junior running back, is listed among the nation's candidates for the Doak Walker Award.
The Doak Walker Award is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate running back. Morris finished in his 2009 campaign averaging 116.0 yards per game, which ranked no. 13 nationally. Morris, the 2009 Sun Belt Conference rushing leader, is one of 20 non-seniors listed among the 49 candidates.
FAU football will be back on the Tom Oxley Practice Field at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. All practices are free and open to the public.
Season tickets as well as single-game tickets are on sale and can be purchased on line or by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
