Gratton Named Sun Betl Player of the Week

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University baseball announced today that Colby Gratton has been named the Sun Belt Conference "Player of the Week" for his outstanding series against FIU over the weekend.
Gratton only had five hits during the series, however three of them were home runs including a dramatic walk-off bomb in the bottom of the ninth that clinched a 6-5 victory over FIU on May 21.
In the 12-4 loss to the Panthers on May 20, Gratton provided the bulk of the FAU offense, hitting two solo home runs that kept FAU in the game early on. Gratton also added two singles in the series on May 22. clinching 14-10 victory over FIU.
On the season, the Miami native finished with a .280 average, five home runs and 25 RBI in his third full year as a member of the FAU baseball program.
The top seeded Owls will begin the 2010 Sun Belt Tournament on Wednesday, May 26, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Reese Smith Jr. Field in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with a first round matchup against the No. 8 seed Western Kentucky University. The game can be heard live on www.fausports.com.
