BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team returned to the field Wednesday for its second day of UAB preparation.
The team moved through punt drills, individual drills, reviewed the installed run and pass scheme and then worked on situational drills. The end of practice was change to get in more situational work.
"I changed the last 10 minutes to get them to extend in situations," said Howard Schnellenberger.
FAU will return to the practice field 3:30 p.m. Thursday, but will work at the FAU Track Complex to get turf work in. All practices are free and open to the public.
Notes:
Comment from Dino Cox:
"We are working hard up front. We have a goal and are still not doing as well as we want. It is going alright but we still want more production. We are not satisfied."
On UAB: "He throws the ball better (better than MTSU's QB). Our game plan is the same contain the run and get them out of what they know how to do we should be fine. We have a good game plan going in."
On UAB Last Year: "They score a lot of points. It was mental errors that killed us last year. They have athletes. We have athletes. If we do our job we should be fine."
Comments from Carl Spitale:
On the quarterback transition: "It is Jeff's (Van Camp) show now. 2010 will come a little early. I have faith in Jeff. I know he can run it. We will go from there. Jeff knows the system, he has playing time, he has been banged around, he is there now, it's just a little faster."
"The offense is going to be the "O" line. If we do what we have to do, Jeff will have more confidence. Alfred (Morris) will keep running the way he is. Willie (Rose) will be back and that takes pressure off him. We have veteran receivers. The line will make its reads and that will help Jeff out too."
Coach Schnellenberger
On UAB: "They have continued to explode. Their stats are right up there with everybody and their running game is up there in the top 10 percent. Obviously we have a major chore on our hands. We will continue to get ready for it."
On UAB's Quarterback: "He is a big guy who can run and can throw and that is what that offense is made for."
