BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team took to the practice field Wednesday for its preparation for their final home game of the 2009 season and the final home game for nearly 20 seniors.
Despite it being a big week for many of the players the practice schedule did not deviate. The day began with punt and punt coverage. The team then moved into individual drills and began installing the pass and run packages. Spirits were high with celebrations following big plays.
There were players who missed most or all of drills resting or healing injuries, all are expected to play. There were also shifts in personnel with several of the younger players getting important snaps with the first team much like David Hinds in the last few weeks. Antonio Rodriguez joined the first team defense as did Yourhighness Morgan and Demetrius Williamson.
Coach Howard Schnellenberger ended practice just after dark affording the opportunity to be featured on the FAUSportspage call-in radio show, hosted this week by Dave Lamont.
Due to the holiday week, Schnellenberger will also host his Coach's Breakfast 8 a.m. Wednesday, November 25.
FAU will return to the practice field 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on the Tom Oxley Athletic Fields. All practices are free and open to the public.
