BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University softball team (22-17, 4-2 Sun Belt) will return to the FAU Softball Stadium, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus, after a five-game road swing. The Owls will face the University of Central Florida on Tuesday, March 25 before playing the University of South Alabama the weekend of March 29 for a three-game series in Sun Belt play.
The Owls went 2-3 in their five games away from home. They split a doubleheader against Saint Louis in Clermont before losing two of three games to North Texas in Denton, Texas.
Last season, FAU and UCF (25-14, 6-3 Conference USA) split a doubleheader in Orlando, each team winning 1-0. Amber Barton threw a complete game three-hitter for her first career shutout in FAU's victory. The Owls swept the USA Jaguars (15-15, 3-3 Sun Belt) in last year's three-game series in Mobile, Alabama. Becky Brandies had an RBI single to help FAU win the opener 1-0 in nine innings.
Tuesday's game begins at 7 p.m. Fans will be able to take part in several promotions at the game. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive Owl towels. The first 50 fans to show up wearing either blue or red also will receive a voucher to purchase a hot dog and drink for $2. It is also FAU Faculty and Staff Night, as they will receive admission to the game for just $2 when they show their Owl Card. All fans in attendance will be eligible for giveaways from FAU sponsors.
