Florida Atlantic (10-6; 3-1 SBC) took two-of-three against Louisiana-Lafayette this weekend in Boca Raton... The Owls are hitting .326 as a team and score nearly nine runs per game... The Owls pounded ULL pitching for 35 hits, 12 for extra bases and scored 25 runs in three games... FAU is hitting .353 with runners on base, .476 with the bases loaded and .301 with runners in scoring position.
2B William Block (.348 BA) owns a 13-game hitting streak... Block totaled 11 bases in 21 at-bats in five games last week, and was 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts... DH Tom Hatcher (.339 BA) went 3-for-3 and hit his third homerun of the season in Sunday's finale to up his season average to .339... SS Nick Arata (.358 BA)) was moved into the leadoff spot Sunday after starting in the ninth spot in15 of FAU's first 16 games ...RF Mike McKenna (.386 BA) has 24 RBI in just 16 games this season, he drove in four in FAU's 13-5 win Friday over ULL.
LH Adam Morrison (1-1; 3.98 ERA) retired 12 consecutive batters Tuesday at USF... Freshman RH Mike Gipson (2-0; 2.19 ERA) picked up his second win of the season Sunday, pitching five solid innings in two appearances last week.
RH Mickey Storey (1-1; 1.96 ERA) lowered his season ERA to 1.96 following an outstanding outing Friday, out-dueling the league's preseason pitcher of the year, Danny Farqahar, to allow Florida Atlantic a win in its series opener and eventually a series win over the Cajuns in Boca Raton. Storey faced just 21 batters in six complete innings, striking-out six and allowing just one earned run. Storey has been essential to an FAU staff that has not used the same weekend rotation in any three weekend series thus far in 2008. Storey has 15 K's in 18 innings this season and 259 K's in 262 innings for his career.
Troy Bubley (.333 BA) went 5-for-13 (.385 BA) during the course of the week, giving Arata a day off at shortstop on Thursday against Monmouth and making a pair of starts this weekend at third base.
