One of FAU's most reliable and effective starting pitchers from 2008-2009
Senior (2009): | Season Stats | Continued to pitch well in big-game situations... began the year as reliever and spot starter but would emerge as the No. 1 starter by season's end... made four early-season relief appearances before being inserted into the weekend rotation on March 22... did not allow an earned run in three of those four relief outings... his lone early-season start was at No. 17 Florida, allowing five hits over 4 2/3 innings to help FAU to a 7-6 victory... won two straight starts in mid-April, the first coming against Bryant (4/17) at FAU Stadium, working 7 1/3 and striking out a season-high five... was fantastic at Western Kentucky (4/24), shutting down the co-Sun Belt Champions through 6 2/3 innings in his first Friday start of the season... he would be the No. 1 starter for the rest of the season... put FAU in position to win a pair of must-win Friday night games in the closing weeks of the season... the first coming at Arkansas State (5/8), allowing four hits in 4 1/3... picked up his third win to improve to 3-2 in FAU's 9-5 win over rival FIU (5/14)... finished the year 3-3 with a 6.82 ERA starting more games (12) than any other pitcher. Junior (2008): | Season Stats | Huge part of FAU's success in 2008...approached FAU single-season pitching records in both batting average against (.220) and hits allowed per nine innings (7.23)...went 2-0 in six starts...FAU was 5-1 in games he started...did not allow an earned run in eight of his 16 appearances...used twice in FAU's season-opening series against then-No. 5 North Carolina...struck out a season-high five in just three innings against UNC (2/24), putting FAU in a position to win that game heading into the ninth...moved into a starting role a week later...made two early-season starts against Eastern Michigan (2/28) and Boston College (3/4)...matched a season-high fanning five and went on to earn his first win in that start vs. EMU (2/28)...called upon in relief and retired 12 consecutive batters at South Florida (3/11), throwing four-plus innings of hit-free baseball...started one week later, throwing four scoreless innings to allow the Owls a win over Rutgers (3/18)...held a 3.24 ERA through the first month of the season, spanning eight appearances...outstanding in retiring 10-of-11 in relief to allow FAU a pivotal Saturday conference victory over South Alabama (4/5)...started and left the game as the winning pitcher of record after five innings against No. 1 Miami (4/16)...was sidelined with injury from April 16-May 16....came back late in the year to pitch FAU to victory at the Sun Belt Conference Championship, starting and throwing five-plus quality innings against top-seeded Louisiana-Monroe (5/23). JUCO (2005 & 2006): Played for Chris Finnegan at Garden City CC...held opponents to a .205 batting average as a freshman...compiled a 12-8 record in two years at Garden City. High school: All-state honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore...all-state as a junior and senior while playing for Marc Johnson at Cherry Creek High School.
