LITTLE ROCK, AR - Katie Arvidson had eight blocks in the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team's 3-1 (20-25, 18-25, 28-26, 20-25) loss to UALR.
Kala Abdell served the Owls (10-13, 3-8 Sun Belt) to a 5-0 lead in the first set before the Trojans (20-5, 9-3) knotted things up at 10. The teams traded the next several points before UALR pulled away to take the set. The Trojans got off to a fast start in the second set, taking a four point lead then using a 9-4 run to win set number two.
Neither team was able to keep control of the third set as the biggest lead for either team in the set was two points. The Owls trailed 26-25 when Morgan Johns, Anne Vaughan and Kristyna Dzmuranova registered three consecutive kills to give FAU the set. Despite four Johns kills, the Owls could not maintain momentum and loss set four 25-20. Krystena Castro led the Owls with 13 kills on the afternoon.
FAU returns home on Halloween night to face Lousiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m. Live stats and live webstreaming of the match will be available at fausports.com.
