BOCA RATON, FL - Anne Vaughan set a career high with 13 kills as the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team defeated Louisiana-Lafayette in four sets (25-22, 25-13, 23-25, 25-19) on Friday.
The Owls (11-13, 4-8 Sun Belt) scored five of the last seven points in the first set to take the set 25-22. FAU used another scoring run, this one a 16-4 spurt on their way to taking set number two 25-13. The Owls had a 22-12 lead in the third set and appeared to be on their way to a sweep when ULL went on a 13-1 tear to take the set and force a fourth.
FAU got out to a 19-11 lead in the fourth when the Ragin' Cajuns pulled to within three at 20-17. The rally proved futile as Katie Arvidson had a block and a kill down the stretch and Morgan Johns provided the game winning kill as the Owls took the set and snapped their six-match losing streak.
The Owls return to action Saturday night when they face New Orleans at 7 p.m. The first 50 fans in attendance will receive a free Amp energy drink. Live stats and live webstreaming of the match will be available on fausports.com.
