The Florida Atlantic University football team returned to practice on Tuesday, looking to bounce back from Saturday's loss at Oklahoma State. This week they'll face another major conference foe in the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The Defense spent the day preparing for Minnesota's new spread set offense. The defense worked most of team drills running a nickel defense. Carldayle Brantley, Tarvoris Hill, and Austin Jensen saw extensive time during the team workout as the fifth defensive back.
Offensively, the Owls worked on improving audibles and running the spread offense. Rusty Smith was able to execute short passes and screens to Conshario Johnson, Jason Harmon, and Lester Jean. Overall, Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger was pleased with how his team responded on the field after Saturday.
"I think they responded well," said Schnellenberger. "I responded to them what we have to do right this week or we won't have a chance to win. If we do focus in and have a better handle on what our responsibilities are and all the defenses we play and what our audibles will be against what we see...in other words execute the game plan a hell of a lot more effectively."
Tickets are still available for Saturday's game between FAU and Minnesota. The game will be played at Dolphins Stadium in Miami; kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. For tickets, call the FAU ticket office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
