Baseball Takes Second Straight from Bethune-Cookman

Florida Atlantic University used six extra base hits to defeat Bethune-Cookman University 14-2 on Saturday afternoon. Daniel Cook helped the Owls with a grand slam while Robbie Widlansky added a three-run homer and two doubles to finish the afternoon 3-for-3 for three RBI and three runs scored.
The Owls (32-20) jumped on the board in the first inning as Widlansky drew a walk with two outs. Mike McKenna and William Block followed that up with a double and single respectively as each picked up an RBI.
After both teams posted one run in the fourth, FAU exploded with nine runs in the fifth inning on seven hits. The inning featured Cook's grand slam and Robbie Widlansky's three-run homer.
Widlansky also started the sixth inning with extra bases and he doubled and came around to score on a Justin Martin single. William Block also scored in the frame on a wild pitch after he reached on one of his four hits on the day.
The Owls then held on for the win but saw the Wildcats (30-24) load the bases in the seventh and push across an unearned run with a sacrifice fly.
Mike Obradovich (8-4) earned the win after 5 1/3 innings in which he allowed one run on six hits and struck out four. Anthony Bradley, Justin Phillabaum, Chris Eberhart and Alex Pepe all worked out of the bullpen and only allowed two hits in the final 3 2/3 innings. Hiram Burgos lasted 4 2/3 innings and fell to 6-6 on the year. He allowed 11 runs on 12 hits and struck out four. Concepcion Guzman entered in relief and saw four runs score on three hits before Arles Rivera-Cola and Francisco Gomez threw the final two innings and did not allow a run.
Angel Negron and Orlando Bacon both finished with two hits to pace B-CU.
FAU will play its final series of the regular season next weekend when it hosts Florida International. The two teams are battling for position in the Sun Belt Conference standings.
