BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University football used Friday as a final tune up for their second scrimmage scheduled for Saturday.
Practice began with brief drills that included agility tackling and stance positioning for the defense. Offensive players worked on hot routes and the box seal. Group Blitz concepts were the focal point of the second part of the afternoon.
During the team session, B.J. Manley came up with multiple aggressive runs through the middle for big yardage gains. Cortez Gent made a juggling grab at the sideline, keeping his feet just inbounds as he brought down the reception.
On the other side of the ball it was the defensive line really shining through for FAU. Josh Pinnick, Jervonte Jackson, and the rest of the line brought immense pressure on the quarterback and were strong in preventing short yardage gains.
The spring's second scrimmage is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday on the Tom Oxley Fields. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
