On Thursday, the Florida Atlantic University football team will hold one more walk through on the FAU practice field. The Owls face the University of Louisiana at Monroe on Homecoming and Hall of Fame day on Saturday at Lockhart Stadium at 4 p.m.
Many events are planned leading up to and after the Owls face the Warhawks. On Thursday, join fellow FAU supporters, Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger and his coaching staff at happy hour at the East Boca Ale House, 1200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton. There will be free appetizers available to FAU supporters, as well as drink specials. There will also be free prizes given away, and FAU apparel will be sold at the event.
Friday Morning, join Coach Schnellenberger for the Coaches Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Founders' Lounge inside the Tom Oxley Athletic Center. Breakfast will be provided free by Dunkin' Donuts. Coach Schnellenberger will go over the game plan for the Owls game against ULM, and the event will include a special appearance by members of the 2003 FAU football team.
Later that afternoon, the FAU football team, men's and women's basketball teams, dance team, cheer team, and Owsley the mascot will take part in the first ever on-campus homecoming parade, beginning at 5 p.m. The parade will start in front of FAU Arena, and proceed down Volusia, then down Dade Avenue, then will turn onto Indian River and lead straight into Fall Family Fest in front of the student resident halls.
Friday evening, FAU inducts its second Hall of Fame class in a ceremony which will begin at 6 p.m. at the Live Oak Pavilion on the Boca Raton Campus. The inductees include Swimmer Oliver Agh (1997-99), Craig Buchanan (men's basketball, 1993-97), Cecille Lundgren (women's golf, 1994-97), Kim Pruitt (volleyball 1995-98), Mike Ryan (baseball 1982-84), and the 2003 FAU football team.
On Saturday, the Owls face Louisiana at Monroe at Lockhart Stadium at 4 p.m. The game can be heard on WMEN-AM 640, beginning at 3:45 p.m. and online at fausports.com. For on-campus students, there will be a free bus ride leaving the Student Union on the Boca Raton campus at 1:30 p.m., seating is limited. Free food will be provided outside of Lockhart Stadium by the FAU program board, and The Ark Band will perform in Rally Alley, beginning at 1 p.m., right up until game time. The first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a free seat cushion courtesy of Publix.
After the game, watch Coach Schnellenberger as he'll be featured on "Five Sports Live," Sunday night on Channel 5 (NBC) in West Palm Beach following NewsChannel 5 at 11:00 p.m. You can hear Coach Schnellenberger on Monday night, along with Dave Lamont as they host the FAU SportsPage, live from Coyote Jack's grill and bar in the FAU Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton. The show airs on WMEN-640 AM from 7-8 p.m.
