The Florida Atlantic University football team had a two and a half hour practice on Thursday. The focus of the session was on getting the second team extended reps during team drills and blocking field goals.
For the second day in a row, the first and second team offenses and defenses worked out against each other. On the first team, Rusty Smith was able to find Rob Housler for a good catch and carry during team drills. Jeff VanCamp took snaps behind center for the second team; his day was highlighted by a couple of long passes to Connor Cole, and a touchdown pass to Grant Glover.
Blocking field goals was the focus of the special teams workout at the end of practice. The efforts of the coaches came to fruition at the end, as Gedel Merzius came around the end to block a 37-yard kick at the end of practice.
