Swimming and Diving Take Three Sun Belt Weekly Honors

Florida Atlantic University's swimming and diving program earned three Sun Belt Conference Performer of the Week honors after outstanding performances over the past month. Divers Lauren Harvath and Andrew Scully were awarded Diver of the Week honors after qualifying for NCAA Zones, while Lauren Shue set a season best and conference best time in the 1000 free and won the event four times in four meets.
A freshman from Satellite Beach, FL, Scully picked up his second honor of the season after breaking FAU records on the 1- and 3-meter boards on January 3 against Missouri State with scores of 322.13 and 354.98, respectively.
Harvath qualified for NCAA Zones against Missouri State University and the University of Nebraska-Omaha after she posted scores of 273.15 in the 1 meter and 277.05 in the three meter. She also won both events against conference rival Denver University on December 16 with scores of 250.80 and 239.05. The Manchester, MO native also won the 3 meter with a score of 258.05 against the University Illinois and Illinois State University.
After posting her fastest time of the season in the 1000-yard freestyle on January 6 of 10:09.44, Shue (Fort Myers, FL) beat her own time by more than seven seconds to record a new season best and conference best time of 10:01.97 in the event. Along with winning the 1000 free in four meets, the junior won the 500 free three times and holds the fastest time in the conference at 4:55.53.
The teams return to the pool this Saturday when they host Florida International University's women's team and Indian River Community College at 11 a.m. at FAU Pool.
