BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University freshman Olivier Sajous posted several impressive fall victories and has earned a No. 63 national rank by the ITA/College TennisOnline.com.
"I'm very happy for Olivier and for his achievements. I've never coached a player who loves the game more," said Head Coach David Komie. "His happiness is contagious and I'm sure that is a big part of why he was voted team captain. I'm looking forward to seeing where he leads this outstanding group of young men."
Sajous, a freshman from Boca Raton, will enter the dual match season as the highest ranked men's player since Daniel Dauber and Juan Ros who were ranked between 80-100, during the 1999 season.
Sajous is also the first men's tennis player to qualify for the Delray Beach ATP tournament, scheduled to begin Saturday, January 27. He also began the New Year as the FAU team captain, as voted upon by teammates.
In his first collegiate fall season, Sajous picked up victories from both ACC and SEC players. While he is playing the ATP event, his teammates will open the 2007 season at Florida State.
