Football Practice Report Owls open fall practice schedule
BOCA RATON, FL (August 7, 2006) -The first day of fall practice came and went for Florida Atlantic University's football team on Monday.
The entire team practiced in shorts and helmets from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
"It's an exciting time. I'm more excited now than I was before we practiced because we have a lot of good players out there," head coach Howard Schnellenberger said.
A position to keep an eye on throughout camp will be the quarterback position, a place where Schnellenberger feels the team has two very good prospects: redshirt freshman Rusty Smith and junior Sean Clayton.
"It's too close to call right now," he said "the quarterback position is our least experienced position but we have two very good prospects. We'll be as good as they make us."
Schnellenberger said each will continue to get an equal number of snaps with the first team until a starter is determined.
Returning to the field were Josh Pinnick and Aaron Sanchez, who missed the entire spring and summer sessions due to injury.
The Owls opener is scheduled for September 2 at Clemson in Clemson, SC at 3:30 p.m.
The next practice is scheduled for Tuesday on the Tom Oxley Athletic Fields at 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
