Boca Raton - Daniel Vardag has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at Florida Atlantic University, announced head coach David Komie, Wednesday.
Vardag, is the second player to sign with first year coach Komie. He will join Corey Smith, who joined the team in January but, elected to redshirt the 2006 season. The duo is part of a class that Tennisrecuriting.net predicts to be ranked among the nation's top-20.
"I'm delighted to welcome Dan to the FAU family," Komie said. "He is an aggressive, big game player that I believe will have an easier time than most making the college transition. Dan is a great kid and I expect him to contribute immediately in both singles and doubles."
Vardag has held Saint Andrews School's no. 1 position since his sophomore season and is perennially ranked among the top-20 junior players in the State of Florida. Vardag will join the FAU squad with the experience of defeating several juniors ranked in the top-100 in the U.S., including one top-10 win.
